TIREDNESS AT THE WHEEL

AN ESSENTIAL ROAD SAFETY GUIDE FOR UNDERSTANDING DRIVER FATIGUE

Fatigue and tiredness behind the wheel is one of the biggest killers on our roads. And while it’s tricky to calculate the exact number of sleep or fatigue-related accidents, research highlighted by The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (ROSPA) shows that driver fatigue may be a contributory factor in up to 20% of road accidents, and up to one quarter of fatal and serious accidents.

Blue Light vehicles & Know Your Zones

Blue Light Aware

Many pupils may not experience an emergency vehicle on their actual driving lesson, so we have added the official Blue Light Aware video here on our website. We appreciate it’s not like dealing with a real life situation, but watching and understanding what to do will certainly help when the occasion arises.

If you have any questions about the video be sure to ask your instructor who will gladly help you out.

Know The Zones

Large vehicles, such as heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) have zones of limited visibility and are considerably longer, heavier, and more powerful than standard vehicles. They also need more stopping distance.

Other drivers often underestimate the size and position of these zones of limited visibility. Please be aware of the zones so you can stay safe.

Advanced Driver Assist Systems

Most cars these days have some sort of ADAS or advanced driver assist system, your driving instructor will explain those that may be fitted to the car you are learning in. But there are a lot that may not be on your instructors car.
Here we have a link to the ADAS hub that will explain what most of the ADAS systems are or may are being developed.
